Tannenberg 1914

By Rafał Zalewski, Wojciech Zalewski · Art by Arkadiusz Wróbel, Piotr Promiński

Description: The game covers the initial stages of World War I, on the northern part of the Eastern front. It is divided in four scenarios, covering different stages of the battle. Each stage has different objectives, marked by victory points. Supply plays a key role, when planning offensives. While Russians enjoy numerical advantage (at least initially), Germany is well fortified and has access to rail transportation. Rules: The game is using the WB-95 system, which contains additions related to the time period. This rule-set is the base for WB-48. Rules available in Polish and English. Original game description from publishers site: The 1st Army of General Rennenkampf attacked from the east and the 2nd Army of General Samsonov attacked from the south. The numerical superiority of the Russians seemed be a guarantee of success, but shortages of supply and lack of cooperation between both high commanders led to the complete defeat. The Germans managed to destroy both Russian armies in the separate battles. —user summary
