Niemen 1920
By Wojciech Zalewski
Niemen 1920 simulates the Battle of Niemen, one of the biggest battles of the Polish-Soviet War 1919-1921. The battle took place between 15 and 25 September, 1920, near the Niemen River, approximately within the area designated by the cities of Suwałki, Grodno, and Białystok. Soviet armies, defeated by Polish forces during the Battle of Warsaw in August, 1920, tried to establish a defensive line, extending from Polish-Lithuanian border to the Polesie region (Polesia), with the city of Grodno being a pivotal point in the Soviet defences. However, they were outflanked by Polish armies and destroyed, which allowed Polish forces to move further east and eventually reach the Tarnopol-Dubno-Minsk-Drissa line in October, 1920. The games uses the WB-95 wargaming system by Taktyka i Strategia.
