Limits of Glory: Wolfe Tone's Rebellion

December 1796. Wolfe Tone stands on the deck of the Indomptable staring at the coastline of Ireland dancing about as his ship swayed and lurched in the storm. This game examines the influence of luck and skill on the timing of events during the following two years of upheaval throughout Ireland. In Wolfe Tone's Rebellion you take the role of either the United Irishmen with their French allies, who must sail aboard the French fleet from France to Ireland, then inspire the local Irishmen to rise up and fight against the Crown, seizing the major towns . Or, take the role of the British Crown, who must prevent the incursion from France and route out the local rebels, imprisoning or destroying them outright. Events are driven by the unique Limits of Glory Event Clock and combat is determined using the same combat table system used in all Limits of Glory games. The Limits of Glory series examines the effect of 'skill and luck' on the commanders present in a campaign. A Glory rating is attributed to all the significant participants in the campaign, made up from the skill they exhibited and the luck from which they benefited. Players must make difficult decisions as to when to use their commander's Glory to mitigate the situation on the board or in combat to their advantage by attempting to change unfavourable events or exploit any crisis as the campaign unfolds.
