Expansion
Kyiv Expedition 1920
By Wojciech Zalewski
Kyiv Expedition or Kiev offensive took place in 1920 during the Polish–Soviet War. The Polish high command decided to conduct a pre-emptive strike against the Communist forces on the southeastern part of the front, who were preparing their own offensive. Thanks to effective Polish intelligence, Poles were able to decipher Russian secret military dispatches concerning the disposition of their forces and their plans. The main aim of the Polish forces involved in the operation was to capture Kyiv. There, working together with Symon Vasylyovych Petliura, the Ukrainian leader, Poles planned to establish an independent Ukrainian state, friendly towards Poland. The Polish offensive was launched on 25 April 1920. The Kyiv scenario offered in Taktyka i Strategia #42 expands Poland 1920 and you must have the base game to play it. The scenario also includes 6 additional counters. The game uses the K-1/K-2 wargaming system by Taktyka i Strategia.
