Board Game
Conversion
By Robert Svyatopolk-Mirski
As Soviet entrepreneurs in the game Conversion (Конверсия), players attempt to expand their businesses by exploiting the shifting exchange rate between the Soviet Union and the rest of the world. The basic structure of the game is to mine raw materials, convert them to goods, and then either sell these at home or transport and sell them elsewhere. However there are ways to outsource these steps, such as paying another player to ship goods for you or buying raw materials on the market, and one may find it easier to turn a profit by specializing in a particular area and forming partnerships with other players. You can purchase higher quality machines, fleets and even computers in the outside world, but you'll need American dollars for these instead of rubles.
