Franchise

By (Uncredited)

The goal of Franchise is to accumulate the most money in 30 days, by opening your selected franchise in as many locations as possible. On Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, each may purchase a franchise in a new location or draw a Fluke card (random events benefiting all or penalizing the other players). On Wednesdays, each player purchases inventory. Tuesdays and Fridays are pay days (you collect your profits). Sunday, you negotiate. There are 21 cities. In each, there can only be one franchise of any kind! Opening the franchise costs money, of course, but you must also maintain a certain level of inventory for the franchise to operate. Revenues fluctuate by die roll, one die per player --applied to all of his franchises. At the end of the month, you total cash on hand plus the ground breaking value of your franchises. Most money wins. For clarification, this game is not related to the more widely known and distributed game with the same "Franchise" name, which was published years later by the Queen games publishing company. That game was in fact a reimplementation of the Medieval Merchant game.
