Dangerland
By Daniel Bepristis · Art by Daniel Bepristis
Dangerland is a dark-humor survival adventure game for 1–5 players in which a group of stranded friends must travel 25 miles across the dangerous city of Dangerland on foot to reach Grandma's house safely. With no phones, no money, and scarce supplies, players may choose to turn on their friends or work together, whatever it takes to survive the journey. Players navigate four unique zones while managing their health, money, and equipment. Inspired by a true story, the game combines dark humor with unpredictable encounters and difficult choices. On each turn, players choose how many spaces to move (within their movement limit), triggering events based on the space they land on. They may find useful items, work odd jobs to earn money, shop for supplies, encounter strange characters, fight other players, or face hazards that can improve or worsen their situation. This is less a game of chance and more a game of choice, encouraging players to adapt their strategy as conditions change. The game ends when there are no active players remaining in Dangerland. Players will either reach Grandma's house safely or die trying and be eliminated. Once every player has either been eliminated or has reached Grandma's house, determine the winner by calculating each surviving player's final score. Each remaining Health is worth 20 points. Add the value of your remaining Health to the combined cash value of your money and items. The surviving player with the highest total score is the winner, and therefore, not the loser. —description from the designer
