Board Game
Dibble
By Bryce Carter
Dibble is a two-player climbing and shedding card game built around hidden information, memory, and bluffing. Between the players sit five face-down point cards, each occupying a lane associated with a different combination type. Throughout the round, players compete to win climbs in order to pull these hidden point cards into their own row, while attempting to occasionally pass in order to determine which valuable cards are where. When leading, you'll play either singles, pairs, triples, runs of 2, or runs of 3. Each combination type corresponds to a specific lane. A well-timed pass can be just as important as it allows you to secretly peek at a point card or swap two point cards. Each player also possesses a personal joker that can be used once per round to steal and change an opponent's most recent play combination into a different combination. Timing when to “go out” is the most critical part. When a player empties their hand, the round immediately ends. The player who went out is rewarded with the option to guess all of their own face-down point cards. If correct, it doubles their point values. However, if any of them are incorrect, that player scores nothing. There is tension around this choice because if first out declines to guess, their opponent is permitted the chance to guess their own face-down cards instead, potentially doubling their score instead. —description from the publisher
