Board Game
げまじゃん (Gemajan)
By Kamomeno Jona (鴎乃汝那)
Players compete to become the ultimate “Gemajan Champ” by using rock, paper, and scissors cards in a fast, approachable contest inspired by gamer-style rock-paper-scissors, where being in the minority can be the key to victory. Across several quick modes, players read the table, choose the right hand at the right time, and try to outguess everyone else in a playful battle of timing, psychology, and split-second decisions. Gemajan is a card game based on “gamer rock-paper-scissors,” a variant of rock-paper-scissors in which the least-chosen hand wins instead of the majority. Each card shows one of the three hands (rock, paper, or scissors) plus a number. If multiple players reveal the same hand, a distance-check rule is used to determine the winner, and if there is still a tie, the higher number wins. The game includes three rule sets: a simultaneous-selection “batting” game, a go-out game similar to Daifugō / President where players try to empty their hands, and a trick-taking game where the winning card scores points. Players may play all three modes once as a triathlon or repeat a single mode, with the highest total score becoming the Gemajan Champ.
