Board Game
Säen und Ernten
By Hans Stadelmann · Art by Hans Stadelmann
Each player is assigned one of the six fields of the game board, a playing piece, as well as grain seeds and stones as needed. The playing piece is placed on the dark dot located on the first corner space of its field. Players then take turns rolling the colored die. If a player rolls Green, they place an oat grain on the space occupied by their piece; if they roll Yellow, a wheat grain; and so on. If they roll White, they may choose both the type of grain and the specific planting spot at their own discretion. A Red roll signifies that no sowing takes place; instead, a stone is placed on the space to indicate that this section of the field is barren. However, if Black is rolled, birds swoop down and eat the grain that was most recently sown. After each roll, the playing piece advances one space, continuing until the entire field has been traversed. At this point, the rolling of the die is suspended, and players take turns removing a single stone from their field. The first player to clear their field of stones begins the harvest phase by resuming the rolling of the die. On a Green roll, a continuous row of oat grains (or a single grain, if no row exists) is removed from the field; on a Yellow roll, wheat is removed. On a White roll, the player has free choice. During the harvest phase, Black and Red rolls represent adverse weather conditions, meaning that no crops can be harvested when these colors are rolled. The first three players to completely clear their fields are declared the winners — ranked according to the order in which they finished — and are awarded the Harvest Prize. Note: The game contains real grains and stones!
