Board Game
Ascend
By Kevin Brougher, Lisa Santa Cruz
Most cards in a deck display a number from 1 to 10. Each card takes a multi-step journey from the deck to a player's hand, from which a player, on their turn, discards a card and then (i) draws a number of cards from the deck equal to the number displayed on the discarded card and places those drawn cards into a personal face-down resource line, (ii) flips the displayed number of cards in the resource line to face-up, (iii} adds the displayed number of cards from the face-up cards to their hand, or (iv) moves their pawn the displayed number of spaces up the mountain (scoring track). The first player to reach the top of the mountain wins. Many number cards come with rule-breaking abilities, as do the few special cards.
