By Dave Friedrichs · Art by Dave Friedrichs, Mark Mahaffey
Bloody Badajoz - The Third Siege of Badajoz (Mar-Apr 1812) was one of the bloodiest in the Napoleonic Wars. Some 4,800 Allied soldiers (under Wellington) were killed or wounded in just a few hours of intense fighting on April 6th while storming the breaches of the citadel at Badajoz. In the aftermath, the victorious and blood-crazed troops ran amok inflicting additional terrors on the surviving defenders and civilians.
