The Leaning Tower of Pisa

By Frank · Art by Giampiero Randazzo

History tells us that the Leaning Tower of Pisa was built between 1173 and 1372. Is it based on the design of Bonanno Pisano. Over the centuries, due to the soft ground, it has tilted on its foundation by almost four degress, remaining so until now. But the real story is that, in reality, there were several crazy architects who tried to build their towers with a deliberate tilt to see if it could be done. They even had a competition to see who could build their tower first! Whoever built their tower first, won the competition. The losers tore down their tower and were forced into exile, leaving their wonder to the glory of posterity. Excerpt from the Encyclopedia of Ridiculous Conspiracy Stories That Have Been Hidden from You. Each turn you will roll you dice (stones) and choose which and how you will place your dice. Use the pips of the dice to fill in spaces on the tower matching the pattern of the pips. There are some crucial spots on the tower that require precise building (copper spaces). You must use the matching die to fill in this space. Since spaces may not match your current dice, you can chisel the die down to alter the pattern of the dice in value up to two times. You goal is to build your tower before your competition builds theirs! You can see from a distant how quickly your competition is moving along, so you must work efficiently to get the job done. However, building a tower that leans takes time and you have to work with rocks that have to be chiseled into shape. Not an easy task. Your tower also has to be structurally sound, so you must build in accordance with the standards of the day. If you fill in all of the spaces of your tower with a limited number of mistakes before your competition does, you win! If your competitor in the distance fills their tower, you lose. —description from the designer
