By Matthieu Dangla · Art by Paul-Émile Boutigny, The Gelles-Widmer Division: McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc.
"At Cholet, the rebels fought like tigers and our troops fought like lions" General Kléber, commanding the french republican army Les Tigres et les lions (Tigers and Lions) is a game that deals with three battle fought during the Vendée war, between republican forces (the Blues) and Royalist (the Whites). On 29th June 1793, the white army failed to take the very important city of Nantes, while the loss of the city would have been a grievous loss for the stumbling french Republic. The white army suffered another decisive defeat at Cholet, on 17th October 1793, and had to abandon Vendée to cross the Loire and try to find help in Normandy and Brittany. Still, a few days later, the whites were able to defeat the overconfident republican army at Entrammes, on 26th October 1793. Les Tigres et les lions is the 7th game of the series Les Soldats de la République. —description from the publisher
