Black Cat Jack

By Sven Winkelmann

Black Cat Jack is a tactical card-drafting duel inspired by Blackjack — but twisted into something far more chaotic, strategic, and deliciously wicked. Before each match, both players strengthen their decks by drafting new cards from a shared pool. With over 70 unique card types, every draft shapes a completely different strategy: manipulate values, sabotage enemy slots, multiply your stacks, or bide your time for the ultimate combo. Every match is played as Best of 3 rounds — or ends instantly if a player runs out of coins. Each round begins with a random target number between 21 and 25. Your goal: build the closest total using only four basic slots and two effect slots… without busting. Win the round, reclaim your wager. Lose — and your coins vanish. Two effect slots provide powerful, randomly assigned effects each match, but they must be paid for — creating constant tension between spending coins to gain an advantage or saving them for survival. At the heart of the game lies the legend of Jack, a cunning black cat, and Jinx, his elusive great love. If a player manages to place both cat cards next to each other with empty adjacent slots, the match ends instantly in a dramatic, story-driven victory. (If the opponent doesn´t match the right counter card and win the game instead) Black Cat Jack blends press-your-luck tension, strategic deckbuilding, tempo management, and bluffing into a darkly comedic dueling experience where every decision matters — and every coin feels precious. —description from the designer
