Brunete 1937: La República pasa a la ofensiva
By Antonio Rodríguez · Art by Xavier P. Rotllán
In July 1937, the Army of the Spanish Republic launched a major offensive near Madrid. Their objective: relieve pressure from the Northern Front, and destroy a sizeable part of the Nationalist forces that had been besieging Madrid since November 1936. Under a scorching sun, Republicans and Nationalist fought a fierce attrition battle that forced the Nationalist command to send reinforcements from other fronts and suspend the advance in the North. Brunete 1937. La República pasa a la ofensiva (the Republic takes the offensive) is a daily turn, Regiment-battalion simulation of that fierce battle. Each hex is 1 km across. Published in issue #43 of Alea in November 2025.
