The montado is a Mediterranean ecosystem shaped by humans, where cork oaks and holm oaks coexist with grazing. It is a multifunctional system that combines cork, timber, and pasture production with biodiversity conservation. In this tableau-building card game with hand management, each player takes on the role of a guardian of an ecosystem, selecting and combining fauna and flora cards to create a balanced habitat. On each turn, players choose available species and place them strategically in their territory, respecting natural food chains — each animal can only be introduced if its food source is already present in the ecosystem.
