Join the Posse!
By Dean Bass
“This town must be a trouble magnet, not a week goes by without some sort of Incident, and here we go again! Nothing for it Deputy, round us up a Posse!” Join the Posse! is a solo tabletop adventure game where your main character is the Sheriff in a small western town. They will lead their team into danger, and strive to bring them back safe, through a series of battles against those who would threaten the peace and tranquility of the town or the local area. Each game takes the form of a battle between the Posse and another group, and sometimes includes some additional task or conditions to fulfill to keep your adventure progressing. This is not to be taken as historical gaming though, the rules definitely lean much more towards the gunslinging adventures of literature and the cinema than any attempt to be historically accurate. Indeed a typical town would be populated by hundreds of people, and we’ll be playing with a fraction of that number! While there are many games that can be played solo, these have been specifically designed to be played that way. You completely control your team, but the adversaries start as randomly moving markers until you spot them and then their reactions are driven by rolls of the dice. So, what you have here is a set of 8 Story Arcs. Each consists of 15 games that revolve around a specific story, and where your characters may improve and may get additional equipment which will be needed to take on the steadily more challenging battles. The whole thing becomes a narrative that will differ from campaign to campaign, enabling you to play it through multiple times without being the same. You’ll need your own figures for the posse of 10, a minimum of 12 adversaries, and around 10 bystanders. A 2 foot square or 3 foot square playing area, ideally with suitable terrain. Also 2D10 and 25 things you can use as markers while the exact positions of your adversaries are still unknown. -description from designer
