Board Game
Divide
By David McDougal · Art by David McDougal
Divide is a drafting trick-taking card game where players build their hands before competing for tricks. Each round begins with players secretly bidding on trump by contributing one card to a shared pool. Players then draft by splitting their remaining cards into two piles and passing one pile left around the table until their marker returns. After drafting, one card from the trump bid pool is randomly revealed to determine trump rank for that round. Players then play standard trick-taking rules, following suit when possible and using trump cards to win tricks. Points are scored for each trick won, with bonus points for winning tricks with trump rank cards. The game plays over four consistent rounds of eight tricks each. Victory goes to the player with the most points after four rounds. —description from the designer
