Show Boat
By Robin Weber · Art by Robin Weber
Show Boat: a game of Americana with a distinctly British obsession with the weather. Show boats were floating theatres that moved up and down the Mississippi (and other rivers) in the 19th century, putting on a show for rural communities along the banks. It's a great way to absorb a bit of vintage Midwestern culture - and make a bit of money while you're at it. You play as the captain and owner of a show boat, over the course of 1 year on the Mississippi. You can move up and down river, recruit actors, buy equipment, and put on shows to make money. It's a most-money game. And in a game where time is of the essence, you can also steal a march on your rivals with a new turn-order mechanic: land in their town with a more celebrated cast, and you can steal their turn! Or play fair - it's up to you. —description from the designer
