Board Game
Horizons
Horizons is a professional analytic strategic board wargame intended to look at future scenarios around NATO. This is done by creating contingent choices to look at possible evolutions of the strategic situation over the next 20 years. 5 players take on the roles of NATO, the EU, the USA, China, and Russia between 2024 and 2045, making decisions in the political, military, economic, and technological spheres. Play is turn based with a simple d6 resolution system for each of the actions they can take, bounded by a limited amount of strategic capital in each turn. Each turn represents 3 years and players contend both with other players choices and actions as well as the actions of minor powers though a cardboard AI, as well as non-state actors and climate change though event card decks. At the end of the game victory is decided by the person with the most strategic advantage, but players can also lose by failing to meet core national objectives.
