Techu on the Chair

Techu is a card game that we’ve played with friends for over 15 years. Techu was our cat, and used to love to watch us play this game from her chair…back in Osaka, Japan. Our idea was to create a fairer card game with a 5×5 grid, similar to a mini-shogi board. It’s a strategic card game for those who love wit and luck. Having the deepness of chess and the luck of cards, it’s a perfect 2 player game. Those who get it…are hooked. —description from the designer Each player takes half a deck in a single color, and takes turns playing cards into the grid with the goal of occupying the most territory. Higher ranked cards can cover and capture enemy cards, but you can only play if your cards connect back to your home row. Many different strategies are possible, and every game ends in a unique map of its own particular battle.
