Board Game
Harbour of Fortune
By Jannieke van Geet · Art by Jannieke van Geet
Harbour of Fortune is a strategic board game for 2–4 players, set in 1653 New Amsterdam. Players lead rival merchant families, building canal houses, sailing ships, and navigating political power to amass wealth. Designed around custom playing cards, each family plays by its own strengths. Build canal houses along the bustling harbor, sail ships to secure trade routes, and invest in ventures to grow your fortune, all while navigating disasters and outsmarting opponents. On your turn, roll dice to determine actions, play custom cards like the Red Ace of Hearts or Diamonds for a “Great Investment,” and use wild cards to trigger unexpected events. Claim the title of Director-General, collecting taxes from opponents to gain an edge. The game ends after 8, 10 or 12 rounds, and the player with the most money, earned by controlling canal houses, household growth, amassing wealth, and achieving key objectives, wins. This game features premium components, including custom theme designed (poker) card decks, ships, canal houses, dice, and a Director-General hat, bringing the colonial era to life with historical depth and strategic gameplay. —description from the designer
