The Fate Experiment
By Daegan Lente
The Fate Experiment is a social card game best played with many participants, referred to as “subjects.” Subjects will draw a Game card and follow its instructions. Each game lasts two to three minutes. If a subject loses too many Games, they are eliminated from the Experiment. Some Games can be won by chance or fairness, but subjects must lie or mislead others if they are to gain any advantage. The nine Fate cards are used in various ways each Game. They may assign roles based on the names of the Fates, or their number values may be used. Three strikes and you are out of the Experiment. If a subject loses a Game, they receive a “cautionary” Subject Status Tag. If the subject loses again, they flip their Status Tag to “critical”. One more loss and they are eliminated from the Experiment. —description from the designer
