Carrier Battle! South Pacific 1942
By Moritsuchi · Art by Moritsuchi
Carrier Battle! South Pacific 1942 is a game that recreates the battles between the Japanese and American navies in the South Pacific during the first half of the Pacific War, at the tactical and operational level. The game features the warships of the Japanese and American navies that were active in the South Pacific, each represented by a single counter. Aircraft are also represented by type, and the main aircraft such as the Zero fighter are rated by model (the difference between the A6M2 and A6M3). The system is innovative, with an emphasis on search and planning, and the game recreates the essence of aircraft carrier battles. There are 9 tactical scenarios and 7 operational scenarios. As well as historical naval battle scenarios such as the Battle of the Coral Sea, Battle of the Eastern Solomons and the Battle of the Santa Cruz Islands, there are also virtual battle scenarios, in which the battleship Yamato and the escort carrier Sangamon make an appearance. —description from the designer
