Grunlings: Fantastic Fruit
By Patrick Wall, Steven McLoughlin · Art by Johanna Forster
In Grunling: Fantastic Fruits, players take turns building the most valuable set of Grunlings, each with unique scoring methods. Many Grunlings prefer to be collected in sets, and some sets are modular, varying from game to game to keep things fresh. Each turn presents tactical choices, from playing Action cards and managing your Fruit Basket to drawing new cards, with a memory element adding strategic depth. Watch out for the ever-shifting Nature Effects, which change in order and type every game and often wreak havoc, and the mysterious Darklings, who limit your discard options. On your turn, you can play Action cards, manage your Basket by storing or swapping cards, and draw new cards from Draw and Discard piles. If your hand and Basket exceed the card limit, you’ll need to discard tactically. Leaf tokens can be acquired and spent to discard extra cards, giving you more control over your strategy. The game ends when the final Effect card is triggered. Players then reveal their cards and tally points. The player with the highest score wins. —description from the designer
