Carrier War: Second Phase Operation

Carrier War is a 2-player game that was included in the August 2019 issue of Gakken Historical Images Magazine. Carrier War is a two-player game set in 1942 in the "Japan-US Aircraft Carrier Battle (Second Phase Operation)." The player takes the role of the Japanese Navy's top brass (the Naval General Staff and the Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet) who, after the "first phase" in the Pacific has been completed, are seeking to establish an even more advantageous position, and the commander of the US Navy's Pacific Fleet, whose top priority is to prevent this, and the player is forced to make "decisions" that will determine the course of the war. The magazine also includes the game Sinking of the Prince of Wales--a solitaire game, also designed by Yamazaki. The map for it is on the opposite side of the map. Counters for both games are on the same sheet, and the rules for each game are found in the same rulebook. —user summary
