新信長風雲録 (Shin Nobunaga Fuun-roku)

By Makoto Fukuda

Operational level wargame covering for battles of Oda Nobunaga over Kinai region. It was published as Game Journal Issue 87. Shin Nobunaga Fuun-roku means New Chronicles of Oda Nobunaga. The game takes its name and theme from the old Tsukuda Hobby game 信長風雲録 (Nobunaga Fuun-roku), but is not a reprint or update of that game, but rather a completely new design. The basic rules use the later version of the Series: Sengoku Gunyuden. Players organize forces around their leaders and select actions for each force at each stage, such as movement, battle, siege battles, reorganization, and morale recovery. It includes 5 scenarios based on campaigns that took place between 1568 and 1573. Victory conditions are set for each scenario, but generally involve comparing the accumulated victory points gained by capturing castles and eliminating units. Compared to other games in the Sengoku Gunyuuden series, there are many short-span scenarios and solo scenarios for practice are also included, making this a good introductory game to the series. Contents Number of counters: 252 pieces Map: 1 Game Period: September, 11th year of Eiroku era (1568) / June to December, 1st year of Genki era (1570) Note: 新 means new 信長 is Nobunaga. 風雲録 (Fūun-roku) means "brave records".
