The 98 Disaster: "Guerra Hispano Americana"
By Antonio Vaquera
The Disaster of 98. The Spanish-American War Game is strategic in nature and simply reproduces this conflict with a system that allows it to be played in a maximum of 45 minutes. It is designed for two players and can be played between experienced wargamers and beginners alike. To do this, the game system uses Event cards (one for each side to use in each of the 5 turns in which the game lasts) and wooden cubes of different colors that represent the troops involved in the conflict (Cubans, Tagalogs, indigenous people, Spanish and American expeditionaries). The Event Cards simulate various political-military aspects of the years 1890 to 1898 and are divided into two separate decks of 8 cards for each side of the game (Insurgent and Spanish).
