A Cornered Wolf: The Air Assault on Rastenburg (July or August 1944)
By Paul Rohrbaugh · Art by Mark Mahaffey
A Cornered Wolf is a "what if" game that explores what could have happened had Stalin decided to launch an attack (Operation "Wolf Hunt") in July or August against the Nazi dictator's command headquarters. In August, 1944, Soviet reconnaissance planes overflew Hitler's eastern headquarters complex at Rastenburg. They dropped leaflets with lists of names of German personnel working there, urging them to defect now, or be held accountable. What if they had instead dropped something more substantial? A mini-game included as part of Against the Odds Annual 2021.
