4917: Machine Code For Kids
By Borislav Nikolov · Art by Borislav Nikolov
4917 is a card game for teaching kids how to read and write machine code, using a simple 4 bit computer with very simple instruction set, 2 general purpose registers and only 16 cells of addressable memory. While the deck supports many play variations, the Hacking variant requires two people, with the goal to HALT the other player's computer without using the HALT instruction, you can modifying one memory address per turn. The game is released under a Creative Commons license and can be downloaded and printed for free from the game website, while a professionally printed card deck can also be purchased from the site too.
