Invasion: The Horde Game
By Emiliano "Wentu" Venturini · Art by Emiliano "Wentu" Venturini
In INVASION, you play as a Chieftain leading a band of Barbarians against rival factions to seize control of the largest number of Cities in the Empire. Each turn, a player places one of their tiles, called Hordes, on a modular square grid board representing the Empire, to form larger groups called Tribes. The largest Tribe adjacent to a City can lay siege to it. The player who is besieging the most Cities at the end of the game (when players can't find space for more tiles) wins. Playing larger tiles seems like a priority, but here's the catch: the main rule of Invasion states that a player cannot play a Horde smaller than any of the Hordes they have already played. As a result, each game is characterized by a constant decision about when to start using your larger tiles, thus sacrificing the smaller ones. -description from designer
