It took place between 2 and 5 October, 1939, near the town of Kock, Poland. During the battle, the Polish Independent Operational Group Polesie, commanded by General Franciszek Kleeberg, fought against the German XIV Motorized Corps, under the command of by General Gustav Anton von Wietersheim.
