By Matthieu Dangla · Art by The Gelles-Widmer Division: McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc.
La guerre de Jugurtha (also known as "the Jugurthine's war") is a strategical game covering the war fought by the king of Numidia, Jugurtha, against the Republic of Rome. Jugurtha met initially successes against poor roman leaders and a poorly trained roman army (-111 to -110), but had later to cope first with the aristocratic general Quintus Metellus (-109 to -108) and then with the famous Caius Marius, head of the Populares party (-107 to -105). Finally, he was betrayed by his father-in-law, king Bocchus of Mauretania and fell in roman hands. La guerre de Jugurtha is published in Vae Victis 170. One turn = around 2 months One counter = around 4000 infantrymen or 2000 cavalrymen Complexity: 4/10 Solo playability: 4/10 Duration: 2 to 3 hours
