Board Game
Topo
By Juan Becerril
Topo ("Mole") is a 3-part hidden role-play game with succinct rules that can be learned in just a few minutes. But don't be fooled by its apparent simplicity, to win consistently you will have to control the fine balance between deduction and intuition. Two participants cooperate to achieve a common goal while the third sabotages their plans from the shadows. Sooner or later where Topo is played someone is going to lie. Can you find out before it's too late? Social deduction games like this usually require many participants. With Topo we try to reduce that number to the minimum possible without losing the essence of the genre, which is the tension resulting from the balance between deduction and confusion. Topo is a game for three, where two participants cooperate to achieve a common goal while a third ("El Topo") sabotages their plans from the shadows. In turns, the players will deposit chips (of three types) in boxes to form different combinations. The objective of the cooperators is to achieve the five combinations indicated on the board. The objective of the Mole is to sabotage the boxes that may contain these combinations ten times.
