Perykles is a game about Greek ancient wars against Persian. It comprises a full colour map, counters need to be cut. The rules are in Polish. Game is based on same system that as Hannibal Ante Portas Game has 2 main elements - There is strategical map of ancient Greece and parts of Asia minor, where players control countries, and provinces, gather taxes and recruit armies. Each territory produces up to fixed amounts of recruitment potential measured in men. Regions differ both in potential numbers and kinds of units that are recruitable. Units are simple graded - Light/ Heavy infantry, light/ heavy cavalry. Map movement is by army counters. When an army crosses neutral province system of friendliness let players decide possible outcome from war, through neutrality to joining trespasser as ally. There are rules for sieges, forced marches and pillaging. -When 2 armies meet, Game is using metagame to play a battle. Battle board has 12 fields each players Right-flank , centre and right flank, and respective second lines. Players place their forces in secret and give each part of the field an secret order such as Attack or Defense. Game features historical scenarios, but is quite open.
