Your lousy alarm clock didn’t wake you up when it was supposed to - or did you hit the snooze button too many times? You can’t remember, and at this point, that’s not important! Because you’re about to be late for school! Quick, get dressed, grab your bag, and don’t forget to nab a piece of toast on the way out (even in these dire circumstances, the importance of breakfast can’t be understated)! Running With a Mouthful of Toast is a one-player game blending the silliness of Saturday morning cartoons with a handful of screwball anime tropes. Place 11 cards face-down in a row. Place one Joker at either end of the row of cards, and the other at the opposite end. Place your token on one of the Jokers. This is your home. And see that other Joker, all the way at the other end of the row? That’s your school. You know the route well, but that doesn’t mean you’re gonna make it without any unexpected complications. Your Time starts at 5, and it’ll go down steadily, as it is known to do. You’ll want to track this number accordingly, perhaps with a die, a piece of paper, or your phone, but be warned - if it hits 0 before you make it to school, you’ll be sent to detention!
