Shadow of the Eagles: Wargame Rules The French Revolutionary & Napoleonic Wars 1792-1815
By Keith Flint · Art by Horace Vernet
The French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars are one of the most tempting and popular of military periods to wargame. The paradox is that the period can also be intimidating to those wishing to game it – there is so much to know and understand. Shadow of the Eagles was written to make the period more accessible, by providing a set of rules a little simpler than many of the popular sets. Experienced Napoleonic gamers may appreciate a relatively straightforward alternative to the other excellent rule sets already available, and enjoy comparing their assessment of the period with the historical summaries included here. Size and scales: 10-20 units per side 25-30 mm minis / 6'x4' table (possible at smaller scale) The basic troop types are: infantry: 1 battalion 600 men cavalry: 1 regiment 400 cavalrymen and artillery: 1 battery 6-8 guns
