Ticinum: Il gioco di Pavia
By Stefano Barbera
In Ticinum: Il gioco di Pavia you get to buy the most popular streets and squares in the city, then increase their value by building houses, churches and towers. You can graduate by passing through the University, thus gaining unique powers to change the tide of the game. The event cards are comparable to those of Monopoly and represent historical commercial activities and monuments. The pawns are personalized: Bonarda, salami, barcè, fog and mosquitoes. Instead of Euros, the currency is "franchises". The primary purpose of the game is the enhancement of the city of Pavia. This game was also created to fight gambling; in 2013 Pavia was described by the New York Times as the capital of gambling.
