Board Game
Battle for the South China Sea
By Nicholas Edwards · Art by Joe Youst
Battle for the South China Sea is a two-player board-wargame that investigates a potential Chinese drive to take control of Southeast and Eastern Asia through force in the near future. Each player must contend with the delicate political balance in the region with an uncertain and unstable political landscape. Once the conflict begins the Chinese player must balance focusing their forces against the scope of their ambitions, including potential control of the first and second “island chains”. The US player must manage a disparate, political unstable alliance where each country is concerned with their own security. Combat takes place on land and at sea, with the various airpower, missile, air denial, and sea denial systems of the regional powers influencing the outcome. Planned for publication with Modern War #57. However Modern War stopped being published in 2021 and last issue was #55 (description from the publisher and user's comments)
