Ancient Pub Battles
By Marshall Barrington
Ancient Pub Battles is a Military Strategy Game where you can fight the battles from the 2nd Punic Wars virtually anywhere. It pits Rome vs Carthage. Scipio Africanus vs Hannibal. The game is played with blocks marking infantry and cavalry on an open field with no terrain. Movement is measured with distance marker sticks, and combat is resolved with a simple dice pool mechanism. Games last for up to 8 turns, and movement order is determined through a chit pull mechanism. When a general’s chit is pulled, he may command armies in range or contact. Players may defer or jump in the turn order by rolling against a command rating for their generals on the field. Players may choose from four included historical scenarios, or build armies with a point system which also determines the winner of a battle. —description from the publisher
