Board Game
1845
1845 is an expert level Railroad building, train operation, and stock manipulation game set in France in the mid to late 1800’s. It combines several features seen in similar 18xx games, with several twists to those mechanics added in to produce a free flowing Robber Baron atmosphere. Players have a large bankroll to begin the game, and the money can flow fast to each player, but debts pile up rapidly making long-term survivability the main player challenge along with maximizing train routes. A full range of interesting private companies provides a lot of early game decisions that will shape each players expectations and optimal positions on the large map of France. Limited enhanced cities (Paris, Nice, and multiple B cities and off-board cities) still provide conflict among players for the best starting locations, especially combined with the bonuses provided from the various private companies. —description from the designer
