Oregano: The Veggie Card Game
By Trevor Hyde · Art by Abby Murdock
Oregano: The Veggie Card Game is a family-friendly game that teaches you about your fruits and veggies! Gameplay is similar to Crazy Eights, but instead of matching the face-up card with a card from your hand by Suit or Number, you match by Plant Family or Plant Part. For example, a Broccoli Card could be matched by any other Brassicacea (such as Turnip), OR by any other plant of which we can eat or use the Flower (such as Chamomile). There are Skips in the form of Pests to terrorize your neighbours’ vegetables and Wilds in the form of Companion Plants - which can additionally be used to protect yourself from Pests! Players will learn useful and practical knowledge about the foods we eat and how to grow them successfully, and the game has been child-playtested for truly countless hours in an agricultural education program. —description from the designer
