Hall Pass
By Joe Dubay · Art by Adriano Kitani, Philip Atherton
Hall Pass is a family game where players are students trying to skip school by moving their pawns and bluffing other players to avoid being put into detention. Each player has seven large pawns, and on their turn they may take one of two actions. First, they may move one of their pawns pawn from its home room orthagonally in a straight line as far as they want, stopping when they run into another pawn; or second, take a pawn that is in detention and return it to one of their home rooms. Each pawn is numbered from 1 to 7 on the bottom, and it can only legally move exactly that many spaces. Any player can demand to see a just-moved pawn's hall pass (the number) and, if it moved either more or fewer spaces than that number, it is sent to detention. If a player can move a pawn out of the school through any home room of another player, it is moved to the getaway car in their player color. The first player to move all seven of their pawns to the getaway car wins the game.
