This modern variant of Shogi was designed by Paul Judkins of the UK sometime around 1998. It is played on a 6x6 board and uses the king, rook, bishop, gold, silver, horse, and pawn from the standard Shogi game. The promotion zone for each player consists of the final two ranks. Drops are permitted.
