A.O.I. (Africa Oriental Italiana)
By Diego Ramirez
"A.O.I. (Africa Oriental Italiana)" is a wargame about the fighting in Italian East Africa in 1940-1. It has a jigsaw map (approximately 20"x20") depicting Ethiopia and the surrounding area (Somalia, Yemen, and at least parts of Kenya and Sudan). The scale is 80 km per hex. There are 12 one-month turns. Victory in the game is based on control of key cities. Supply is important, particularly for the Italians; among other issues they have only six supply units which allow attacking and one is removed after each attack. The Italian player must also contend with deserting units starting on turn 7.
