1916: Romania – Prelude to Blitzkrieg
By Paul Hederer · Art by Paul Hederer
1916: Romania – Prelude to Blitzkrieg is a comprehensively researched operational-level game that explores the intriguing campaign fought in and around Romania from August to December 1916. The campaign was unique for the Great War as it featured sweeping advances by both sides, and effective use of cavalry forces. In contrast to the large cavalry forces included in the game, there are truck units, emphasizing the armies early reliance on motor transport. The game is an adaptation of Bertrand Munier's CSR award-winning "Nach Paris," system, modified to show the differences in warfare in 1916, and theater-specific aspects. The game map will include the entire campaign area: northern Bulgaria, Romania, Bukovina and Transylvania. The map size will be 2 standard maps for a size of @110 cm x 117cm. The final size will depend on hex size. The game will have about 900 counters.
