Gegenangriff am Kasserine
By Lou Coatney · Art by Lou Coatney, Robert Scott Coatney
GaK is a basically regiment-to-(Italian )division minigame about the Axis counteroffensive 14-22Feb43 in Tunisia. There are 9 1-day turns. The Axis have 9 units plus Rommel himself, and the Allies start with 6 U.S. (from 1st Armored and 34th Infantry Divisions) and 2 French units. At 10mis/16kms per hex, zones of control do not stop enemy movement but can interdict supply. The U.S. (and French) must conduct a fighting withdrawal or lose victory points for losing villages/positions too quickly, to try to set up solid defenses in the hills, valleys, and (Kasserine) passes. The game plays in an hour (or less, the instant the Germans take strategic objective Thala). There are Tiger( tanks)s. The British 6th Armoured Division is an optional, strategically costly reinforcement. The game is free to print off and play from CoatneyHistory.
