L'Aquila e il Leone
By Filippo Riva · Art by Alberto Pomi, Franco Chiani, Marcello Ghilardi (II)
L'Aquila e il Leone - La Battaglia di Vicenza - 7 ottobre 1513 is a wargame for two players that aims to recreate the battle that took place in the areas close to the city of Vicenza between the armies of the League of Cambrai and the Most Serene Republic of Venice. The players pull chits indicating which section of the battle field is activated, with a mechanism somewhat reminiscent of the Series: Commands & Colors system. The units are moved on a game map divided into squares and depicting the battle field, and combat is resolved through the roll of 2 six sided dice. A secondary map provides the Venetian armies with an alternative path through the marshes, allowing them to outflank the opponents. The winner is the player that controls two of the three sections of the battle field.
