Each new land has its own special properties that change the rules of the game. For example, Rogue's Retreat lets hired units escape to the discard pile, while the Peasants at Revolt Volcano begin their uprising before you even start to play. Each deck of Villages: Distant Lands includes 48 standard cards, 12 location cards, and a sheet of rules.
